New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns underwent treatment on his bruised left knee and to repair ligament damage on a finger in his left hand, sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.
The finger issue occurred in Game 3 of Round 2 against the Boston Celtics, and the knee injury in the Eastern Conference finals against the Indiana Pacers, Shelburne adds.
Even with the injuries, Towns averaged 21.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on 48.8% shooting from the field and 35.1% from three in the postseason.
Towns' injuries were re-examined after New York's elimination Saturday, and he chose to immediately undergo the procedures to have the most time possible to recover before next season, Shelburne reports.
The Knicks acquired Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves last offseason. He was named to the All-Star Game and the All-NBA third team in his first season in New York.
