Haliburton's dad won't attend Pacers games after confronting Giannis
Tyrese Haliburton's father, John, won't be at Indiana Pacers home or away games for the foreseeable future, a team spokesperson told ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday.
The Pacers' front office made the decision after John sparked an on-court confrontation with Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo following Indiana's series-clinching win in Game 5, Charania added.
John left his courtside seat to taunt the 2021 Finals MVP shortly after his son's winning overtime layup. Before exiting the court, Antetokounmpo found John in the crowd and told him to never disrespect Antetokounmpo like that again, according to Haliburton's account.
Tyrese told reporters postgame that he believed his father was in the wrong. John issued an apology on social media shortly after the incident, which Tyrese reposted.
The Pacers open their second-round series against the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
