Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray erupted for a career-high 55 points on 20-of-36 shooting in Wednesday's 132-121 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Murray's 55 points are the third-most scored in a single game by a Nuggets player in the franchise's history. He also contributed four rebounds, five assists, and two steals while hitting seven threes in 42 minutes.

"As a coach, when you're watching one of your players have that kind of game, you're just so proud of him and happy for him," Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said, per Mile High Sports' Ryan Blackburn.

"Tonight was his best game ever from a numbers standpoint."

The 27-year-old's career high is the most points scored in a game by a Canadian-born player, surpassing Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who recorded 54 points in a win over the Utah Jazz earlier this season.

Nuggets star Nikola Jokic also posted a triple-double in Wednesday's contest with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists.

"I think I just want to give credit to the team," Murray said after his career night, according to Jake Shapiro of Denver Sports 104.3. "I know, guys are tired. Guys are anxious to get to the break - I am. You can kind of let that get in your head.

"The team did a great job, everybody, top to bottom. This is a big eight-game swing."

Denver's eight-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the NBA. The Nuggets will look to stay hot after the All-Star break against the Charlotte Hornets on Feb. 20.
