Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving will replace his injured teammate Anthony Davis at the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, Dallas announced Monday.
Davis was initially selected as an All-Star reserve but will reportedly be sidelined for multiple weeks after suffering a left adductor strain in his Mavericks debut Saturday.
Irving will be making his ninth All-Star Game appearance at this weekend's event in San Francisco. The 32-year-old will replace Davis on Team Shaq, joining the likes of Steph Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and James Harden.
The Duke product is averaging 24.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 40.7% from deep this season.
The 2025 All-Star event will adopt a mini-tournament format, abandoning the traditional East-versus-West game. The tourney will feature three teams of eight All-Stars and a fourth squad consisting of the winners of the Rising Stars Challenge.
