Franz Wagner out indefinitely with torn oblique
Orlando Magic star Franz Wagner will be sidelined indefinitely with a torn right oblique muscle, the team announced Saturday.
Wagner will be re-evaluated in four weeks. His return to play will be determined based on how he responds to treatment.
The 23-year-old is in the midst of a breakout season, averaging a career-high 24.4 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.6 rebounds while leading the Magic to the three seed in the East with a 16-9 record.
It is believed he suffered the injury in Friday's 102-94 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Wagner played 38 minutes, dropping 30 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
He's the second player on Orlando to go down with a torn oblique this season. Forward Paolo Banchero has been out since Oct. 31 with the same injury.
The Magic will take the court without Wagner for the first time this campaign Sunday against the Phoenix Suns.
