Carter: Raptors should retire Lowry's jersey next
Hall of Famer Vince Carter believes Kyle Lowry should be the next Toronto Raptors great to join him in the rafters of Scotiabank Arena.
When asked whose jersey the Raptors should retire next, Carter pointed to Lowry as the most logical choice in an appearance Friday on FanDuel's "Run It Back."
"I think, naturally, we're gonna say Kyle ... for what he's brought to the table, to the team, and what he's done in like nine years," Carter said. "Obviously, (DeMar) DeRozan is another guy who's truly capable. But I think Kyle, who brought a championship there and played there for a very long time, he would be, obviously, one of the guys, if they asked me, which they probably wouldn't. ... But he should be the first guy they consider for sure."
Carter had his No. 15 jersey retired by the Raptors at their Nov. 2 game against the Sacramento Kings, making him the first player in the franchise's 30-year history to receive the honor.
Lowry, who's now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, played in Toronto from 2012-21 and helped lead the Raptors to their first NBA championship in 2019. The 38-year-old ranks as the franchise's all-time leader in assists, triple-doubles, steals, and 3-pointers.
