Report: Maxey out 2 weeks with hamstring strain
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss two weeks due to a right hamstring injury, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The 76ers announced Thursday that an MRI confirmed a hamstring strain and that Maxey will be re-evaluated in about a week, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
In a league-leading 39.7 minutes per game, the 24-year-old is averaging 27.6 points, 3.9 assists, three rebounds, and 1.4 steals.
The Sixers are tied with the Milwaukee Bucks and Utah Jazz for the worst record in the league, with all three teams starting 1-6. Philadelphia has been without former MVP Joel Embiid for the entire season, and star forward Paul George missed the first five games of the campaign. The Maxey-Embiid tandem played 36 games last season, and the team had a 29-7 record in that span.
Embiid is reportedly expected to make his season debut on Tuesday against the New York Knicks.
Maxey was awarded the NBA's Most Improved Player title last season, averaging 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds.
