Newsome (hamstring) went through a rehab assignment Thursday but remains out, Chris Easterling of The Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Analysis:The cornerback was placed on the active/non-football injury list after having hamstring surgery before training camp. Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski said at the beginning of camp that Newsome should be ready for Week 1, per Easterling. Newsome recorded 49 tackles and 14 passes defensed, including two interceptions, in 2023, all career highs.
