Embiid confident despite 0-2 deficit: 'We're going to win'

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid remains certain that his team will beat the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs.

"We're good," Embiid said after the 104-101 loss in Game 2 on Monday night, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps. "We're going to win this series.

"We are going to win this. We know what we got to fix. We did a better job today, so we are going to fix it."

The Sixers almost pulled off a decisive road win against the Knicks, taking a five-point lead with under a minute left in the contest. However, New York knocked down back-to-back triples, the second of which came after Tyrese Maxey's turnover off an inbound pass.

Philadelphia head coach Nick Nurse said after the game that the referees ignored him as he tried to call a timeout following the first 3-pointer. The team is going to file a complaint with the NBA due to the officiating over the first two contests.

Maxey and Embiid combined for 69 of the team's 101 points. Both players missed shots in the final seven seconds that could have potentially won the game.

"We are the better team," said Embiid. "We are going to keep fighting."

The series moves to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Thursday.
