The Orlando Magic are rewarding head coach Jamahl Mosley with a four-year contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2027-28 season, the team announced on Tuesday.

Mosley has been with the team since 2021, amassing a total record of 93-136. The Magic have taken a major step forward this season, sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference at 37-28 - which already marks more wins than either of the coach's first two campaigns.

"Jamahl (Mosley) and his staff have done a tremendous job, not only this season, but since we hired him back in 2021," said president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman. "His preparation, work ethic, ability to connect with the players, and passion he brings to the job every day brings positive results, both on the court and off. We are very happy to have Jamahl lead the Magic for years to come."

The 45-year-old has been on an NBA team's sideline since 2005. He spent time with the Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks before getting his first head coaching gig with the Magic.

Orlando's calling card under Mosley has been its defense. The unit has vaulted up to No. 5 league-wide, anchored by 2023 No. 1 pick Paolo Banchero and rangy wing Franz Wagner.

Banchero, in particular, has blossomed under Mosley. He's the first Magic player to make an All-Star team since 2021.
