The Oklahoma City Thunder's rise this season has given Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama hope that San Antonio can follow a similar path.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Thursday night's game against the Thunder, Wembanyama explained how Oklahoma City can serve as a blueprint for what can be accomplished in the NBA.

"I don't have any doubt," Wembanyama responded when asked if he sees the Thunder as a model for the Spurs' future, according to Hector Ledesma of Clutch Points. "It also gives me hope and inspiration for the whole league. It shows that the NBA is really one of a kind in this matter. Sometimes it takes many years for teams to get back on the competitive level, but eventually they make it, and it's inspiring."

After failing to make the playoffs the past three seasons, the Thunder are now second in the Western Conference at 41-17 and are viewed by some as title contenders.

The Spurs, on the other hand, have struggled this season. The team currently sits at the bottom of the West at 11-48 and is on track to miss the playoffs for a fifth straight year.
