Vince Carter wants to go into HOF as a Raptor
Vince Carter has no doubt about which of his former teams he wants to represent if he makes it into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this year.
During an appearance on FanDuel's "Run It Back" podcast, Carter was asked which jersey he'd wear going into the Hall of Fame if he could only choose one. Carter acknowledged that he had some great years with the New Jersey Nets, but he ultimately went with the Toronto Raptors.
"Toronto, Toronto, Toronto," he said. "I mean, it has to be. It's where it started ... yes, I had great years in Jersey, but it started there. My confidence and understanding the player that I could be in the league was trending upwards still in Toronto."
The 47-year-old Carter is among the finalists for the Hall of Fame's class of 2024, which will be announced April 6. The enshrinement ceremony is set to take place Aug. 17 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Carter, the fifth overall pick of the 1998 NBA Draft, spent the first six-and-a-half seasons of his career in Toronto before being dealt to the Nets. He sits fourth on the Raptors' all-time scoring list behind DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, and Chris Bosh.
