Report: Heat exploring trades for veteran Lowry
Kyle Lowry could be leaving South Beach soon.
The Miami Heat are exploring trades involving the veteran guard ahead of the trade deadline, sources told Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.
Lowry holds value in the trade market due to his expiring $29.7-million salary.
The Heat benched Lowry for wing Caleb Martin after Miami's 24-point loss to the Toronto Raptors last week. The team then dropped its following two contests.
Lowry, 37, expressed his displeasure with the move.
"For me, as a professional, of course I'm disappointed to have to adjust," Lowry said, according to Chiang. "But I haven't played well in the last couple weeks, and I understand that coach has made a decision to try to move and shake some things and get in a different flow. So, as a professional, of course it's an adjustment. But I have to make it and figure out how to help the team win."
Lowry is averaging 8.2 points, four assists, 3.5 rebounds, and a steal in 28 minutes per game this campaign. He's recorded 11.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.1 rebounds over his three seasons in Miami.
The Heat can break their three-game losing streak with a victory against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
