Cuban: 'No plans' for presidential run after selling majority stake in Mavs
A 2024 presidential run doesn't seem to be in the cards for Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
After news broke Tuesday that Cuban is selling a majority stake in the Mavs to billionaire Miriam Adelson, some wondered if the 65-year-old was preparing to enter the 2024 United States presidential election.
Cuban shut down the speculation Wednesday, telling TMZ Sports that a presidential run next year is "galaxies off" and his "family would disown (him)." He also wrote in an email to NBC News that he has "no plans to run."
Cuban purchased a majority stake in the Mavs in 2000 for $285 million. As part of the deal with Adelson, he'll reportedly retain his shares in the franchise along with control of all basketball operations.
On a recent episode of the "All The Smoke" podcast, Cuban revealed that he also plans to leave "Shark Tank" next year after the show's 16th season. He's appeared on the reality television series since its second season in 2011.
