The Hornets have waived forward/center Kai Jones, the team announced Wednesday.
The move comes two days after Jones publicly requested a trade.
Jones hasn't participated in training camp due to "personal reasons." He doesn't have a timeline for his return.
The Bahamian national was selected with the No. 19 pick in 2021 after two seasons at Texas. He's averaged 2.7 points and two rebounds in 9.1 minutes per game across 67 contests over two seasons.
Charlotte will incur a $3-million cap hit this season following the move, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. Jones had a team option for 2024-25, per Marks.
