Report: Clippers acquire Martin in trade with Rockets
The Los Angeles Clippers are acquiring forward KJ Martin from the Houston Rockets in exchange for two future second-round picks, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Martin made a substantial leap in his third NBA season after being selected with the No. 52 pick directly out of prep school in 2020. The 22-year-old averaged a career-high 12.7 points and 5.5 rebounds across all 82 games while shooting 56.9% from the floor.
The son of former No. 1 pick Kenyon Martin, the younger Martin is known as a high-flyer with defensive upside and an ability to play both forward spots.
Martin will play a key role as an explosive bench option within a largely veteran Clippers squad.
He'll earn just under $2 million next season but is in line for a large payday as an unrestricted free agent next summer.
