The Los Angeles Clippers are re-signing former MVP Russell Westbrook to a two-year, $8 million deal, his agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Westbrook joined the Clippers after being traded by the Los Angeles Lakers and subsequently waived by the Utah Jazz last season.

The 34-year-old doesn't possess the athleticism he once did when he won the league's top individual award in 2016-17 after averaging a triple-double for the first of three consecutive seasons. Still, Westbrook averaged 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game last season between the two L.A. teams.

Westbrook was particularly effective for the Clippers in their first-round series loss to the Phoenix Suns. He averaged 27 points in the three games that superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George missed, including a 37-point outburst in Game 4.

He's never been known as a knockdown shooter but did hit over 35% of his attempts from deep with the Clippers, which would be a career high over a season.

Westbrook has career averages of 22.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.4 assists across 15 seasons in the NBA split between the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Lakers, and Clippers.
