LeBron James has yet to compete in the NBA Slam Dunk contest, and it doesn't sound like he has any regrets about skipping the annual All-Star Weekend event.
During a recent interview with Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson of Bally Sports, James admitted that he's never had a desire to take part in the dunk contest.
"I don't think it was something I wanted to accomplish in my career; it's not a goal of mine, and it never was coming into the NBA to be a part of the dunk contest, you know?" the Los Angeles Lakers star said. "Making the NBA All-Star team was, being the league MVP, winning Defensive Player of the Year, winning NBA championships? Those were some goals of mine.
"The NBA dunk contest was never a goal of mine, so it wasn't something that I had too much passion for."
James teased his participation in the dunk contest back in 2009 but never followed through. He then ruled out the possibility of ever competing in 2012, saying he was "getting too old" and didn't want to risk getting injured.
The 38-year-old is currently mulling his future and whether to return for a 21st NBA season following the Lakers' exit from the Western Conference finals.
