Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair was voted as the 2022-23 NBA Basketball Executive of the Year, the league announced Wednesday.
Cleveland Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman finished second in voting, while Justin Zanik of the Utah Jazz and Calvin Booth of the Denver Nuggets tied for third.
McNair's roster construction led the Kings to their best season since 2004-05 and ended the longest active playoff drought in major North American sports. Sacramento finished with a 48-34 record in the regular season before getting eliminated by the Golden State Warriors in the postseason's first round in seven games.
McNair's most notable moves since joining the Kings in 2020 include acquiring All-Star Domantas Sabonis and sharpshooting wing Kevin Huerter in separate trades, drafting Keegan Murray and Davion Mitchell, and extending franchise cornerstone and Clutch Player of the Year De'Aaron Fox on a five-year deal.
The GM also hired Mike Brown, this season's Coach of the Year.
The Kings extended McNair's contract in January.
