Grizzlies suspend Morant after he again appears to flash gun in video

The Memphis Grizzlies suspended star guard Ja Morant from team activities Sunday after the franchise became aware of a social media video in which he appeared to flash a gun.

Morant "is facing the real possibility of a lengthy suspension" to start the season, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on "NBA Countdown."

The matter is pending review from the league.

"We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information," NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said, according to Wojnarowski.

The league suspended Morant eight games in March for detrimental conduct after the star guard brandished a gun while intoxicated during a livestream from a nightclub in Colorado following a game against the Denver Nuggets. An investigation could not determine whether the gun belonged to Morant or if it had been in his possession inside team or league facilities. The Grizzlies guard entered a counseling program in Florida prior to being suspended.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver called Morant's actions in March "irresponsible, reckless, and potentially very dangerous."

Morant apologized for his conduct in a statement, saying he would "take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being."
