LeBron: 'Pretty cool' Lakers will finish above .500 this season
After clinching a spot in the play-in tournament earlier in the week, the Los Angeles Lakers ensured they'll also finish the regular season with a winning record following their 121-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday.
LeBron James is especially pleased the Lakers will finish above .500 after starting the season with a 2-10 record.
"I was just telling AD (Anthony Davis), 'Man, can you believe that we're going to finish this season above .500 - after everything that's gone on this season?'" James said, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
"We've turned this thing around. And it's the regular season, obviously, there's a lot more basketball to be played. But to know that we're going to finish a few games above .500? It's pretty cool."
The Lakers improved to 42-39 with Friday's win, becoming just the sixth team in NBA history to finish with a winning record after starting the year 2-10 or worse, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
The Lakers enter Sunday's regular-season finale against the Utah Jazz sitting seventh in the Western Conference standings but could finish anywhere between the Nos. 5 and 9 seeds depending on how other teams fare in their final games.
