Report: 76ers' Maxey likely to return Friday
Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is set to return to the lineup as soon as Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The 22-year-old hasn't played since Nov. 18 due to a foot injury and is likely to be on a minutes restriction when he returns, Charania adds.
The Sixers have fared well in Maxey's absence, going 12-5, including an eight-game win streak. De'Anthony Melton has started in Maxey's place.
Maxey has averaged a career-high 22.9 points this season along with 4.4 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and one steal in 15 games.
Backcourt mate James Harden missed 14 games with a foot injury earlier this season.
The 76ers play the Washington Wizards on Tuesday in their only game before Friday's tilt against New Orleans. Philadelphia sits fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 20-12 record.
