Grizzlies sign Adams to 2-year, $25.2M extension

The Memphis Grizzlies announced Saturday that they extended center Steven Adams on a two-year, $25.2-million contract.

Adams is now signed to the Grizzlies for three years with his contract totaling $43.1 million.

The 29-year-old averaged 6.9 points, and career highs in rebounds (10) and assists (3.4) in his first season with Memphis. His role diminished in the playoffs, as he only saw the court in seven games during the Grizzlies' playoff run.

Adams led the league in offensive rebounding during the regular season and had 349 total boards, which broke the franchise record set by Zach Randolph in 2009-2010.

The Grizzlies acquired Adams from the New Orleans Pelicans last offseason. Prior to his time in Memphis and New Orleans, Adams spent seven seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman has also extended franchise star Ja Morant, forward Jaren Jackson, wing Dillon Brooks, and sharpshooting guard John Konchar. Brooks and Brandon Clarke are extension-eligible, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
