Report: LeBron, AD, Westbrook affirm commitment to one another over phone call
The Los Angeles Lakers' star trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook expressed their commitment to each other on a recent phone call and pledged to make their partnership work, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.
While Westbrook's future with the Lakers remains uncertain, the goal of the conversation was to make sure all three players were on the same page when it comes to working together to win a championship, Haynes reports.
Westbrook and his longtime agent Thad Foucher parted ways on Saturday, with the latter citing "irreconcilable differences" regarding their view of the point guard's future.
The former MVP has been dangled in trade talks, most notably to the Brooklyn Nets for seven-time All-Star Kyrie Irving. Westbrook has never requested a trade from the Lakers during his tenure, Haynes adds.
Westbrook is slated to make $47 million for the 2022-23 season before he becomes an unrestricted free agent next offseason.
The Lakers have added a litany of new role players around the trio, including recent champion with the Golden State Warriors Juan Toscano-Anderson, former San Antonio Spurs wing Lonnie Walker, and former Lakers draft pick Thomas Bryant.
