Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid may have finished as the runner-up in Most Valuable Player balloting for the second straight year, but he's still the "MVP" in select urban areas of eastern Pennsylvania.

Philadelphia City Council officially passed a resolution, dubbing the local sporting hero the "Most Valuable Philadelphian," according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Anna Orso.

Given the metropolis' rich history of producing notable historic figures, spanning the worlds of politics, entertainment, academia, and sport, receiving the "Most Valuable" designation from the Philadelphia City Council is a lofty honor.

Perhaps Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic will find some solace in bringing home the NBA's MVP award for the second straight year - but he'll never know what it's like to have the respect of 17 locally elected politicians from the Keystone State.
