Report: T-Wolves in serious talks with Nuggets president Connelly
The Minnesota Timberwolves are in serious talks with Denver Nuggets president Tim Connelly to make him the team's next president of basketball operations, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski.
While a deal doesn't appear imminent, the two sides have moved past exploratory conversations, Charania and Krawczynski report. Connelly is the first known external candidate for the role, while current T-Wolves vice president Sachin Gupta reportedly remains a candidate.
Connelly has been responsible for the Nuggets' franchise overhaul in recent years, including retaining head coach Michael Malone and discovering key rotation players Bones Hyland and Monte Morris.
Minority owners Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore are expected to play a significant role in the decision-making process, though current owner Glen Taylor will ultimately make the final hiring choice, Charania and Krawczynski add.
