Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James passed Hall of Famer Magic Johnson for sixth on the NBA's all-time assist list by recording his 10,142nd dime in Friday's 133-129 victory against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The forward earned his milestone assist on an open 3-pointer from fellow star Anthony Davis in the fourth quarter of a tightly contested tilt.

"It means a lot, obviously," James said. "The way Magic approached the game, it was very infectious. His teammates loved playing with him because of the joy he played with and the ability to pass the ball and get other guys involved. He was always excited about seeing his teammates be great.

"I always admired that in him. What's even more humbling and super duper cool is the fact that I'm doing it in a Laker uniform and knowing how much Magic means to the Laker franchise."

The assist was James' ninth of the game, finishing with 11 on the night. He had rolled his ankle just minutes prior but stayed in the contest despite visibly being in pain.

James has accumulated at least 349 assists in every season of his legendary career.

The 37-year-old is now just under 200 assists shy of passing Mark Jackson for fifth on the all-time leaderboard and over 5,000 away from record-holder John Stockton.

James also became the seventh player in NBA history to record 900 career victories on Friday night.
