Celtics' Jaylen Brown tests positive for COVID-19

Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced Friday.

Brown is currently quarantining and is asymptomatic, the Celtics added.

The 24-year-old will be unavailable for Saturday's preseason matchup against the Toronto Raptors due to the positive test. After Saturday's game, Boston plays two more preseason contests before opening the regular season against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 20.

Brown, who was named a 2021 All-Star, averaged 24.7 points, six rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.2 steals over 58 games last campaign. He's entering the second season of a four-year contract worth up to $115 million.

As of Sept. 30, 95% of NBA players have reportedly been vaccinated against COVID-19. During his media day availability last month, Brown didn't confirm or deny his vaccination status. Instead, he said he believes whether or not you get a shot is "a personal choice."
