The Brooklyn Nets are at the center of a couple minor trades on Tuesday - both of which amount to salary dumps.
Brooklyn is acquiring injured Indiana Pacers guard Edmond Sumner and their 2025 second-round pick, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The team will reportedly waive Sumner, who tore his left Achilles tendon last month. The 25-year-old was due $2.3 million this season, the last of his current deal.
The Nets are also trading third-year forward Sekou Doumbouya and a second-round pick to the Houston Rockets, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Like Sumner, the Rockets will also waive 20-year-old Doumbouya, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports. The Detroit Pistons' No. 15 pick in 2019 is owed $3.6 million for 2021-22. Houston will gain Brooklyn's unprotected 2024 second-round pick for facilitating the salary cap gymnastics.
In a subsequent move, the Pacers will sign veteran guard Brad Wanamaker to a training camp deal, Wojnarowski reports.
