Bucks' Portis declining $3.8M player option
Portis played a key role off the bench for Milwaukee throughout the 2020-21 campaign. The 26-year-old averaged 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game while shooting 52.3% from the field and 47.1% from 3-point range during the regular season. Portis then delivered a key 16-point performance in the Bucks' championship-clinching Game 6 win over the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals.
The most Milwaukee can offer Portis in free agency is a mid-level exception worth $5.9 million, ESPN's Bobby Marks notes.
Portis played for the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, and New York Knicks before joining the Bucks. The veteran has averaged 10.4 points and 6.1 rebounds in 381 career games.
