Rapper J. Cole is signing a contract to play for Rwandan team Patriots B.B.C. of the Basketball Africa League, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The 36-year-old Grammy winner will reportedly make three-to-six appearances in the upstart professional circuit, starting with Sunday's game against Nigeria's Rivers Hoopers.

As musicians go, the 6-foot-3 Cole has earned a reputation for being able to hold his own with the pros.

The BAL's inaugural season will feature 12 teams from across the continent with the entire event unfolding in Rwanda. The venture is a partnership between the NBA and FIBA.
