A LeBron James rookie trading card has shattered the record for the most valuable basketball card ever sold.

The autographed 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Rookie Patch card fetched $5.2 million in a private sale brokered by PWCC Marketplace. Beckett rated the card Mint 9, and it's the third-best example known to exist, according to PWCC.

The $5.2-million price tag ties the James card with a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle for the most expensive sports card sale of all time, according to Darren Rovell of Action Network.

Goldin Auctions sold a similar James rookie card on Saturday night for $1.72 million.
