Raptors fined $25K for resting healthy players

The NBA fined the Toronto Raptors $25,000 for "failing to comply with league policies governing player resting and injury reporting," the league announced Saturday.

Toronto elected to rest Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam, and OG Anunoby in the team's win over the Orlando Magic on Friday despite all three players being healthy.

The league's resting policies this season amid the COVID-19 pandemic have granted teams leniency when it comes to sitting veteran players for one-half of a back-to-back, particularly in non-nationally televised games. The Raptors weren't in such a scenario, however, as they hadn't played since Wednesday.

Toronto's struggled throughout the 2020-21 campaign, with a 23-34 record through 57 games. The Raptors are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference.
