In the wake of Thursday's trade from the Los Angeles Clippers to his hometown Atlanta Hawks, veteran sixth man Lou Williams wondered whether it was time to call it a career.
"I thought about retiring yesterday," the 34-year-old revealed Friday on Instagram. "You give so much to an organization and you wake up and boom, it's no more.
"Then in true Clipper Nation fashion, I was reminded that my talent and contribution was appreciated, and it made me reflect on what's to come."
Williams, who went to high school east of Atlanta in Snellville, Georgia, now says he's excited to rejoin the Hawks, currently the East's sixth seed.
"There's plenty left in my tank and I'm privileged to continue my career in my backyard," Williams said of the Hawks, with whom previously played for from 2012-14.
In just under 22 minutes per game with the Clippers this season, Williams has averaged 12.1 points on 10.2 shots per contest, his lowest scoring output since 2013-14. He'll hit unrestricted free agency this summer.
