It's widely expected that two-time All-Star guard Victor Oladipo won't be a member of the Houston Rockets when Thursday's trade deadline passes, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Rockets reportedly have received trade offers for the 28-year-old that include young players and first-round pick combinations. Wojnarowski notes the team is getting "increasingly comfortable" with accepting one of the packages.
For his part, Oladipo reportedly prefers a move to the Miami Heat, though he would also be open to joining the New York Knicks. With the latter organization, the interest is reportedly mutual.
However, with both franchises possessing significant cap space heading into the 2021 offseason, neither the Heat nor Knicks reportedly feel compelled to offer the Rockets a premium package.
Injuries have disrupted Oladipo's development into a two-way NBA star. Since his breakout 2017-18 season - when he averaged 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and a league-high 2.4 steals per game - he's logged just 84 regular-season appearances over parts of three seasons.
After coming to Houston earlier this campaign as part of the James Harden trade, Oladipo is averaging 21.2 points, five assists, and 4.8 rebounds over 33.5 minutes per night.
Oladipo is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after reportedly turning down the Rockets' two-year, $45.2-million extension offer. There's no guarantee he'll be more open to a long-term extension during the offseason, leaving the Rockets facing the possibility his departure leaves them empty-handed.
