NBA Thursday player props: Richaun Holmes is catching fire
Domantas Sabonis was held under his point total and Fred VanVleet cashed his prop, but we ultimately went 2-3 on Wednesday.
There's no time like the present to get back on track for Thursday's six-game slate. Here are which player props we're rolling with.
Richaun Holmes over 20.5 points+rebounds
There haven't many positives amid the Kings' nine-game losing streak. Holmes has been one of the few, coming fresh off back-to-back doubles.
The Bowling Green product is up to career highs in minutes (29.1), effective field goal percentage (65.7%), and points per game (12.9) this season, among other categories. Holmes should fill the stat sheet for a third straight night against the Knicks.
New York leads the NBA in opponent field goal percentage (43.1%), and the defense is top-five against every position on the floor except for centers. The Knicks surrender north of 22 points per game as well as the fifth-most rebounds (16.1).
Nikola Vucevic over 43.5 points+rebounds+assists
I'm always so eager to dig into the Nets' offensive matchups, only to find a better value on their opponents. Vucevic is my pick to click for Wednesday.
The Magic's star center went off for 34-10-7 against Brooklyn earlier in the year. Vucevic has an absurd usage rate for a big man (28.8%) and should be the straw that stirs the drink in a matchup expecting to see nearly 230 combined points.
The Nets have had issues covering centers - the club allows the third-most points, fourth-most threes, and fourth-most assists per game.
Kyle Anderson under 2.5 made threes
I hate to say it, but I love this play.
Anderson's been on fire from three lately - 15-of-26 (57.7%) over his last seven games - but his volume is concerning: He's put up more than five attempts from beyond the arc just three times in his last 18 starts.
The 27-year-old just might have to be perfect on Wednesday to cash this over because the opponent's stout - the Clippers allow the fewest points to power forwards on just 44.8% shooting. L.A. also surrenders just 1.96 threes per contest, making this an easy fade.
Steven Adams under 8.5 points
Speaking of fades, Adams is another I'm dialing in on Thursday.
The Pitt product poured in 14 points on 7-of-8 from the field against the Pistons on Tuesday - but it's not the start of a hot streak. Adams only averages 8.2 points per contest in 2020-21 and has surpassed this number in only four of his last 16 starts.
Adams got by a Detroit defense that allows the second-worst shooting percentage to big men a few days ago. Now, he draws a Bucks defense that paces the league.
Don't expect consecutive double-digit performances from a player who owns one of the worst usage rates this season.
