Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, franchise star Luka Doncic, and others connected to the team have partnered to donate $1.25 million toward emergency efforts following this month's extreme weather in Texas, the organization announced, per Texas Metro News' Dorothy J. Gentry.

Other individuals contributing funds include players Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber, and Dwight Powell, and Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall. The Mavs Foundation and Chime, the team's jersey sponsor, are also lending financial support.

The funds will help numerous initiatives, including the operation of emergency homeless shelters, community meals and warming stations, rehousing costs, and emergency rent for those living in low-income housing.

Extreme winter weather led to mass power outages in Texas and other states in recent weeks, leaving many without heat as temperatures dropped to atypically frigid levels. At least 58 deaths have been attributed to the storm so far, according to The New York Times' Giulia McDonnell Nieto del Rio, Richard Fausset, and Johnny Diaz.

The Mavericks' Feb. 19 road game against the Houston Rockets was among the events postponed due to the emergency.
