Knicks top Forbes' most valuable NBA franchises list, Warriors jump to No. 2
The New York Knicks have once again claimed the top spot on Forbes' list of most valuable NBA teams.
The Knicks led all franchises for the sixth straight year with an estimated value of $5 billion, up 9% from 2020. They become just the third sports team in the world to reach a worth of $5 billion, joining the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees.
There was some movement behind the Knicks, as the Golden State Warriors ($4.7 billion) moved up one spot to No. 2 and knocked the Los Angeles Lakers ($4.6 billion) to third. The Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics finished fourth and five, respectively.
The NBA's average team value now sits at $2.2 billion - an increase of 4% from last year and the smallest gain since 2010, according to Forbes' Kurt Badenhausen and Mike Ozanian.
