The Atlanta Hawks are in play and trying to acquire Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward, sources told Yahoo's Chris Haynes.
Hayward still hasn't decided whether to opt out of the $34.2 million final year of his Celtics contract, with a report Tuesday noting that both sides have agreed to extend the deadline until Thursday.
If Hayward opts out, the Hawks hold ample salary-cap space to sign him to a new deal. Another possibility is a sign-and-trade, reports Haynes.
The 30-year-old missed a large stretch of last season's playoffs due to an ankle injury. In 52 regular-season games he averaged 17.5 points, but the veteran became a tertiary option behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
The Hawks are also interested in free-agent point guard Rajon Rondo, sources told Haynes.
