The Los Angeles Lakers have approached the NBA regarding the number of free-throw attempts granted to LeBron James so far in the team's Western Conference finals clash with the Denver Nuggets.

"We're dealing with the fouls through the proper channels with the league," coach Frank Vogel told reporters Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times' Broderick Turner. "I think he's gone to the basket very aggressively, and I'll just leave it at that."

James averaged 7.6 free-throw attempts per game this postseason prior to the Western Conference finals. He's attempted just 10 free throws through three games against the Nuggets.

James only shot two free throws in Tuesday's Game 3 loss to Denver, which was a result of a flagrant foul called against Jamal Murray.

With their lead now cut to 2-1, James and the Lakers will look to re-establish control of the series in Game 4 on Thursday. Tipoff is slated for 9 p.m. ET.
