Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley downplayed reports of a testy exchange with NBPA executive director Michele Roberts during Wednesday's players meeting in the wake of the postponed playoff games.

"We had a very interesting conversation," Beverley told reporters Friday. "The P.A. is like a family. You don't always agree with your family members, and that's OK. We communicated about it and tried to make it better. And whatever the dialogue was or whatever you think it is, we made things better yesterday."

Roberts was presenting players with the financial ramifications of canceling the postseason during the meeting when Beverley interrupted her a couple of times, sources told Yahoo's Chris Haynes. At one point, the executive director asked if she could continue her presentation, and Beverley responded, "No, I pay your salary," Haynes added.

The exchange reportedly led NBPA president Chris Paul and others to intervene and settle things down.

Beverley's teammate Ivica Zubac, however, denied Friday that's what was said. "I don't know who leaks this stuff, but Pat never said anything like this," Zubac tweeted.

Beverley has been sidelined with a calf injury for the Clippers' last four playoff games against the Dallas Mavericks.
