Giannis: Luka is 'one of the most talented guys I've ever played against'
Dallas Mavericks wunderkind Luka Doncic put forth another memorable performance in Saturday's win over the Milwaukee Bucks, notching his league-leading 17th triple-double with 36 points, 14 rebounds, and a career-high 19 assists.
The Slovenian's latest display of brilliance notably caught the attention of Bucks superstar and reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
"It's amazing. He's playing great basketball. He's a great basketball player, makes his teammates better ... One of the most talented guys I've ever played against," Antetokounmpo said postgame, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps.
He added: "He's making the whole team better, and he's going to keep getting better. As long as he makes his team better, they're going to be tough to beat."
Of all the special moments from Doncic's outing, the 21-year-old's sensational between-the-legs pass with just over one minute remaining in overtime left his own coach and teammates in disbelief.
"I clapped. I applauded. I thought it was phenomenal," Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said of Doncic's final assist of the contest. "The sign of a great player, a truly great player, is the ability to pull off something like that against a team like Milwaukee, that gives up virtually nothing in the paint."
Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis, who watched the play from the sidelines after fouling out of the game, couldn't help but marvel at Doncic.
"Unbelievable. Not only the way the pass was, but also at the moment in the game," Porzingis said. "To make that pass and to have the - what's a good word - to have the courage to do it? That's just who Luka is."
Doncic's masterful showing helped the Mavericks improve to 42-30 on the season.
