Raptors' Lowry: NBA bubble 'will work perfectly'
Toronto Raptors floor general Kyle Lowry is confident the NBA's quarantine bubble at Walt Disney World in Orlando will ensure the 2019-20 season finishes as planned.
Lowry feels the bubble "will work perfectly," he told reporters, including The Associated Press' Tim Reynolds. The 34-year-old cited his belief in the league's "top-notch" protocols as part of his rationale, according to Sportsnet's Michael Grange.
The defending champion Raptors are familiar with quarantine protocols at this point. The team's travel party arrived for training camp at Florida Gulf Coast University on June 22 before traveling north to Orlando. Each of the 21 U.S.-based teams arrived at the league's bubble from July 7-9.
Lowry's confidence in the isolated environment echoes the sentiments of Raptors head coach Nick Nurse, who recently said he feels "really safe" operating under the league's health and safety protocols.
COVID-19 cases in Florida have soared in recent weeks. The state set a single-day record for the U.S. when it confirmed more than 15,000 new cases Sunday.
