New Orleans Pelicans vice president David Griffin said Tuesday that three unidentified players tested positive for COVID-19 on the team's first day of testing, according to team writer Jim Eichenhofer.

No other personnel has tested positive since, and those infected are in self-isolation. They can return to basketball activities after two negative tests.

NBA teams were set to begin testing all players at in-market training facilities last week. On Friday, the league and players' association announced 16 of 302 players had tested positive for the coronavirus. It was reported earlier Tuesday that the Denver Nuggets temporarily shut down their practice facility after members of the team's traveling party tested positive.

The Pelicans are set to join 21 other teams in the league's Orlando bubble starting late next week.
