Former head coach and current TV analyst Jeff Van Gundy thinks plans for the NBA season could change in a hurry if a player within the campus environment tests positive for COVID-19.
"Right now we're somewhat underestimating the fear of that scenario," Van Gundy told the New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy. "For the players on the guy's team, for the players who have played against that team or will play against that team ... I'm not sure we know - because I know I don't know - if that fear is going to be more than I expect, less than I expect."
The NBA is tentatively set to return with 22 of the 30 teams on July 31 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
If a player tests positive for COVID-19, they will reportedly be quarantined and treated separately while their teammates and coaches continue with the season.
