The New York Knicks and Washington Wizards have reopened their practice facilities for voluntary workouts, while the Boston Celtics will allow players to return to the Auerbach Center starting June 1, the teams announced in separate statements Friday.

"We're happy that our players will now have the option to work out individually in a safe environment at the Auerbach Center, and we hope it signals a step back towards playing basketball again," Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said on his team's behalf.

"As the safety of our players and staff remains our priority, we will continue to follow the guidelines established by the state of New York and the NBA," the Knicks' release read.

The Wizards stated that "stringent protocols and precautions will be in place to ensure the safest possible working environment."

Following the announcements, there are now just three NBA teams that have not reopened their practice facilities, according to The New York Times' Marc Stein: the Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs.

On a call with the league's board of governors Friday, commissioner Adam Silver reportedly informed teams that the NBA is targeting July 31 as the date to resume the season.
