Rivers hopes to get Ray Allen to attend KG's jersey retirement
"KG is getting his jersey retired next year, and I'm hoping everyone is there," Rivers said Saturday, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "I'll make the right calls - that doesn't mean the right things will happen."
The beef between Allen and some of his former teammates, including Garnett, stems from the former's decision to sign with the Miami Heat as a free agent in July 2012. Boston was eliminated by Miami in seven games during the 2012 Eastern Conference finals.
Rivers, who coached the Celtics from 2004 to 2013, believes any "ridiculous" beef that still lingers from Allen's decision needs to be put to rest.
"I just think we won a title with Ray, and we need to get over it," Rivers added.
The Los Angeles Clippers coach helped the Celtics' Big Three of Garnett, Allen, and Paul Pierce win their lone Larry O'Brien Trophy together in 2008.
