An MRI revealed Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic sustained a moderate right ankle sprain during practice Thursday, reports Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

The sophomore doesn't have a definitive recovery timeline at this point, according to The New York Times' Marc Stein. However, the 20-year-old All-Star has already been ruled out of Friday's contest against the Houston Rockets and is also expected to miss Saturday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported on Thursday.

Doncic missed four games in December after spraining the same ankle, which kept him out of practice for 10 days, MacMahon adds.

The Slovenian is averaging 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.7 assists in 43 games this season.

Dallas and Houston enter Friday's contest neck-and-neck in the Western Conference standings with identical 29-18 records.
