Luka Doncic's unprecedented play this season has led to comparisons between the sophomore and some of the NBA's all-time greats, most notably LeBron James. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, for his part, sees a bit of Larry Legend in the Slovenian's game.

"He's different. He's got this incredible knack for seeing the floor and being a step ahead. He reminds me a little bit of Larry Bird in that regard. He's kind of one step ahead in the chess match," Kerr said prior to Golden State's 124-97 loss to Dallas on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell.

Mavs bench boss Rick Carlisle, who's also noted similarities between the legendary Boston Celtics star and the Dallas point guard, agreed with Kerr's comments before stressing the importance of letting Doncic be his own player.

"That's all legitimate," Carlisle said. "But I stay away from the comparison game because I think it's important that this kid is his own player. And he truly is. So look, each month he continues to develop and learn more and hones certain skills even more, so it's pretty exciting. A very exciting player to watch. I understand the hype."

Doncic will have a chance to showcase his abilities again Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings.
