The Los Angeles Lakers announced Wednesday that MRI results on Anthony Davis' lower back revealed only a gluteus maximus contusion and the star forward will travel with the team on its upcoming two-game road trip, reports Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.
Davis left Tuesday's game against the New York Knicks after landing awkwardly on his back in the third quarter. Shortly afterward, the Lakers announced he had suffered a sacral contusion.
Davis' agent, Rich Paul, later confirmed that X-rays came back negative, but the veteran still felt sore.
Despite his clean tests, the 26-year-old Davis is likely to miss Los Angeles' next two games against the Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Davis is averaging 27.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game this season. Kyle Kuzma could receive more playing time while the six-time All-Star is sidelined.
